Infant Daycare Priorities: Environment, Activities, Location

Published on  November 14, 2023

In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the top priorities that parents should be considering when looking for the ideal daycare program for their infant. Children of different ages may have widely varying needs when it comes to daycare and child care programs, and infants in particular require some special nuance when choosing a program.

At Smart Kids Development Center, we’re happy to offer a huge range of child care programs for families around Salt Lake City and Taylorsville, including ages ranging from infants and toddlers up to preschool, kindergarten and more. While part one of our series went over key areas like safety, caregivers and policies, today’s part two will look at some other important factors to be looking for in any daycare where you’ll be sending your child.

Engaging Environment

Environment is a huge factor for infants, who require constant stimulation and interaction to help them develop properly. A daycare that simply plops children in front of a TV for hours on end is not one you should be considering – at Smart Kids Development Center, we offer active programs with hands-on activities and interactive learning opportunities that are fantastic for infant development.

For instance, it’s great for small infants to see older children playing and carrying out activities – this both provides a sense of what’s to come, and also encourages them to try new things. We offer specific environments where these interactions occur, helping facilitate all sorts of important early learning.

Creative Activities

Throughout the day, your infant should be participating in numerous activities that will promote development and stimulate their senses. These should include things like music, art projects and others – unfortunately, some daycares only offer these on special days or events.

At Smart Kids Development Center, however, our daily curriculum is centered around creativity and imagination. We have a number of exciting programs that are planned out and implemented with the help of our experienced teachers, allowing for constant positive engagement that your infant will love.

Location Factors

Location is important for any child, but infants in particular require somewhere that’s accessible and convenient for parents at all times of day. Your daycare should be located near your home or work, and it’s also important to look at the layout of the facility. Make sure that spaces are safe and clean – you don’t want your infant crawling around in a dirty environment. Our daycare center is located centrally, with easy access from many of the major roads and freeways around Salt Lake City and Taylorsville.
