Our Philosophy

We are committed to providing the best quality care and learning environment possible for your children, each and every day. We believe in the “whole child” approach to early learning that addresses with equal attention the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of the child including the following:

  • Self-worth and feeling of adequacy
  • Self-management
  • Exploration and discovery of their environment
  • Logic and problem-solving
  • Creative thinking
  • Positive self-esteem
  • Acceptable social values and social responsibility.

Our Staff

Each staff member undergoes an extensive background check and health evaluation. They are also certified in CPR and first-aid. The state requires 20 hours of early childhood continuing training, and we (Smart Kids) require an additional 20; a total of 40 hours a year of training. This way we can ensure that our teachers are up to date on all new teaching techniques. As our professional philosophy states, we are encouraged to “Treat all children, parents, and staff with the love and respect we would like to be treated.” We also would like them to “Be loose and have fun, run a phenomenal preschool and childcare program.”

Tuition/Admissions

Tuition fees are posted at the daycare. There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee (for family). Classes are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, according to the date of enrollment. If classes are filled when parents call then the child’s name goes on the waiting list (or we can recommend one of our other daycare facilities.)

Fees Due IN ADVANCE

Our tuition is due Monday of every week and considered late if not paid by Wednesday of the same week. If the account is past due by the 15th and 30th of the month, we will add a $25 late fee to the account. Please speak with the director if you feel that your situation requires special consideration, and we will try to work within your needs. Any special arrangements will be in writing and signed by the parent and director.

Hours Of Operations

Smart Kids childcare is open 6:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m.  A grace period of 5 minutes occurs, after which parents will be charged $1.00 per minute that the child is not picked up. This is to be paid directly to the teacher upon arrival. If not paid it will be considered late and will be added to the account. Childcare providers are required by law to call Child Protective Services if a child is left at the center for over 30 minutes after closing and we didn’t receive a call or work out a plan for someone to pick up your child. Please keep all your contact phone numbers up to date, including home, work, cell, and emergency contact numbers. We understand that accidents happen. Please let us know what is happening and we will work with you.

General Cleanliness

Children are encouraged and assisted in keeping themselves clean. Lowered faucets, soap dispensers, and paper towel holders are provided for them to use. We have a bathroom in every classroom (except baby room) to help ensure that the children are supervised and assisted in going to the bathroom and washing hands. Children receive age-appropriate training/guidelines in personal hygiene, including proper handwashing methods. We strongly urge parents to reinforce good hygiene habits at home through regular bathing, hand washing, and hair care.Fees due in advance, withdrrawal of a student, state assistance for childcare, clothing,

Transportation Policies

Children must remain seated while the vehicle is in motion.

Children must wait by the flagpole in front of the school (or in a school bus pick up area).

It is a parent or guardian’s responsibility to let Smart Kids office know if a child needs transportation or not on specific days or has an early day out. If you plan on picking up your child early, please let Smart Kids office know.

Children may be unattended no more than 30 minutes before school and no more than 30 minutes after school dismisses. In such situations, children must wait at the office of their school.

If there are delays or problems with transportation, parents or legal guardians will be notified within 30 minutes by a phone call.

State Assistance For Childcare

If you are receiving state assistance for your childcare services we will help you fill out a 980 form from the Department of Workforce Services (DWS). To ensure payments are not withheld, parents are responsible to fill out and turn in the 980 form, as well as submit all the necessary information that the state requests. Parents should be aware that if the state has not issued payment for a month, you will be charged each day for the services while you are out of compliance. By following through with all the paperwork and information requests, the state will issue childcare funds to your EBT card. You are required by law to bring in your EBT card and make a payment at the daycare for childcare services. You are not able to take these funds off of the EBT card, and the state is prosecuting people who may attempt to do so. You may be required to pay a portion of your childcare expenses based on your earned income figures designated by the state. Parents are responsible for payment of their childcare account in the event the other party does not pay (including ex-spouses.)

Clothing

We provide a wide range of activities that children participate in. It is recommended that they dress in washable, comfortable clothing. We provide paint shirts for messy projects. However, we strongly recommend an extra outfit to be kept at the center. All children’s personal clothing should have their names on them written with permanent marker. Please remember children go outside daily (weather permitting) and should be dressed accordingly. Smart Kids Centers are not responsible for lost clothing and/or personal belongings. We have a LOST & FOUND in the front lobby under the fish tank.

Withdrawal Of A Student

We require a two week written notice of intention to withdraw a child, in order to refund any portion of the tuition. If notice is not given, it will be at the discretion of the director as to and how much is refunded.
